CALM, Morgan Stanley
CALM Visualizer
Overview
CALM (Common Architecture Language Model) is run by a volunteer group of back-end developers contributing to this open source project with no UX funding.
Scope and timeframe
I was brought in to guide the team through UX exercises to ultimately provide the team with wireframes and UI support all within 1 month.
Stakeholders
Dev leadership on the CALM team, COE Department Head of the UX Design team.
Role
UX Designer.
UX Workshop
Because of the tight timeframe and lack of UX funding, we had to work quickly.
The team of developers were very focused on building the tool, although they were excellent at the technical side they were working without a clear picture of users and the larger UX picture.
I started with an exercise to identify the problems that they are solving and to understand the high level user types.
Once high level user types were defined, we began roughly mapping the journey focusing domain architects.
Gathering needs UI needs
Little UI work had been completed before I joined the project but from the developers mock ups I worked on gathering some basic UI needs to build into wireframes.
